We’ll be at the Cork Adult Education & Learning Exhibition in Cork City Hall with information on day and evening classes for September 2016: Wednesday August 31st and Thursday September 1st, 1pm to 8pm.
The Cork Adult Education & Learning Exhibition is open to any group or individual offering online courses and/or classes and activities for adults in the Greater Cork area.
Thanks to the continued support of Cork City Council, the exhibition has been held every September since 1978. 2016 marks this 48th year of the exhibition.
A variety of organisations take part, offering opportunities for adult learning, training and career development. Exhibitors at the City Hall include: University College Cork, Cork Institute of Technology, Cork Education & Training Board, community schools, as well as colleges and individuals from the private sector. Dublin-based organisations also exhibit, including A.O.N.T.A.S., Open University, and Office of the Ombudsman, alongside Citizens’ Information Service, Diabetes Ireland, Social & Health Education Project, and Cork Anti-Poverty Network. Many cultural and voluntary groups offer a range of courses in hobbies, languages and special interest, e.g. astronomy, genealogy, meditation, Italian, Spanish, Alexander Technique, hill walking, mindfulness and chant, etc.
Workshops will also be held over the two days, drawing on the special knowledge and expertise of the exhibitors.
The exhibition has been organised on a voluntary basis since 1978, by the Cork Adult Education Council. Fees for exhibitors are kept to a minimum, with proceeds going back into the event to cover stand hire, publicity, and advertising
In this era of online communication, the Cork exhibition gives the public a special face-to-face opportunity to savour a diverse range of courses, catering for all interests, ages and abilities. It is a unique event, the only one of its kind in the country.
Admission is free and all are welcome.
